Pahela Baishakh celebrated in Puthia

‘Pahela Baishakh’, the first day of the Bengali New Year-1431, was celebrated  in amidst  traditional festivities participated by  people from all the communities at Puthia Upazila .

On the day, a festive mood generated among the local people irrespective of castes, creeds and religions to welcome the first day of the Bengali New Year.

People from all walks of life including children, men, women and activists of different socio-cultural organizations and students of different educational institutions wearing traditional colorful dresses came down on the streets here in the morning to welcome the Bengali new year.

 

This colorful Mars procession left the Upazila Parishad Chattar and circled the main road and ended at the upazila Shilpakala Academy. Patriotic song, dance  performed and discussion and award distribution held at Upazila Shilpakala Academy Auditorium. Upazila Nirbahi Officer A. K. M. Nur Hossain Nirzor presided over the discussion meeting and Upazila Chairman GM Hira Bacchu gave their speeches. At that time, Puthia Upazila Assistant Commissioner (AC) (Land) Debashish Basak , Upazila Vice Chairman Abdul Matin Mukul, Vice-Chairman (Reserved) Mousumi Rahman were present at the programme.
