Kolkata actress Aindrila Sharma passed away at the age of 24 last year after suffering from a brain stroke. She was in a coma for two weeks, after which multiple cardiac arrests worsened her condition, leading to her demise.
The “Jhumur” actress won the hearts of the audiences with her larger than life attitude and her beaming smile. She was a two-time cancer survivor, and her journey of battling cancer made fans root for her. Recently, the actress was honoured with a posthumous award at the Tele Academy Awards 2023. Her parents, Shikha and Uttam Sharma accepted the honour on behalf of their late daughter from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Aindrila’s mother also read a note she penned in memory of her daughter.
It was an emotional moment for Aindrila’s parents as they accepted the award while holding onto the photo of their beautiful daughter on stage.
Kolkata Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who routinely watches Bengali TV shows and knows practically all the artistes by name and the characters they portray on shows, spoke with Aindrila’s parents on stage.
Mamata commended her work and expressed her affection for the actress. It was an emotional moment not only for Aindrila’s parents, but for everyone who attended the occasion Friday night in the ‘Dhono Dhanye’ auditorium. Aindrila’s mother broke down in tears when she accepted the recognition.
Later on, Aindrila’s mom Shikha shared her feelings on social media. She spoke about how Mamata Banerjee spoke highly of the late actress and recognised her efforts.
Aindrila Sharma began her career as a model before moving on to do TV shows. “Jhumur” was her first television project, and it was only the beginning. Later, she appeared in TV series such as “Jibon Jyoti,” “Jiyon Kathi,” and others. She has worked on films as well as OTT projects. Aindrila is remembered not only for her performance but also for her upbeat personality and never-say-no attitude. She even resumed work after finishing the first session of chemotherapy.
