‘Saatao’ screens in Nilphamari

Filmmaker Khandaker Sumon-directed film titled Saatao, which won Critics’ Award in the Bangladesh Panorama section at the 21st Dhaka International Film Festival, was screened at the auditorium of District Shilpakala Academy, Nilphamari on Friday and Saturday.

Khandaker Sumon told that, the film was screened four times at the academy’s auditorium and it received a huge response from the film lovers of Nilphamari.

‘As the film revolves around the everyday life of people living in villages near the river Teesta, it received a huge response from film lovers of Nilphamari. After watching the film, they said that the film successfully portrayed the plight of the marginalised people in the society,’ Khandaker Sumon told.

‘Besides, the film will be screened at Jaldhaka of Nilphamiri today,’ added Khandaker Sumon.

Produced by Sharif Ul Anwar Sazzan and made under the banner of Idea Exchange, Saatao gives film lovers a glimpse into the plight of the marginalised people in the society. The film revolves around the everyday life of people living in villages near rivers. The film shows how villagers get exploited by loan sharks, the struggles of farmers and more.

The shooting of the film started on February 2 in 2019 and ended on December 19. It was shot in different places, including Teesta Bazaar in Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha, Nilphamari and Dhaka. Aynun Nahar Putul and Fazlul Haque played lead roles in the film.

Besides, Md Salauddin, Sabera Yasmin, Swakkha Shahid, Shraboni Dad Rimi, Tasmita Shimu, Mitu Sarker, Faruk Chinu, Afrina Bulbul, Rubel Lodi, Kamruzzaman Rabbi, Abdul Aziz, Bidhan Roy, Zulfiqar Chanchal, Binay Prosad, Supin Barman, Refat Hasan Saikat, Abdullah Al Sentu, Alamgir Kabir Badal, Robi Dewan, Dinbandhu Paul, Hamid Sarkar, Hanif Rana, Aktar Hossain, Azizul Hakim, Saiful Islam, Rasel Tokdar, Maznu Sarkar, Abu Kalam, Siddik Ali, Suzon Mahmud, Tahsina Aktar Tonni, Nishat Tahian Mimon and the villagers of Teesta Bazaar have portrayed different characters in the film.
