Agargaon-Motijheel station open in October

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the metrorail of Agargaon-Motijheel section in October, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said today.

“The prime minister will inaugurate the Agargaon to Motijheel section of MRT-6 in October next. Meanwhile, we have progressed in the overall work of metrorail.

Besides, Metrorail Police has been formed,” he told a branding seminar on the launch of MRT Line Six of Metrorail from Agargaon to Motijheel at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital this morning.

Quader, also the Awami League general secretary, said metrorail is the country’s asset and that is why all should perform their responsibility to protect it.

The beauty of metrorail should be maintained and law and order should be looked into, he said.

Putting emphasis on the environmental development of Dhaka city, Quader said garbage cannot be thrown everywhere and cigarettes cannot be smoked everywhere.

“Brick kilns around Dhaka city should be shut down and we have to do these things for the sake of our existence,” he said.

Chaired by Roads and Highways Division Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Road Transport and Bridges Ministry Rowshan Ara Mannan, Dhaka South City Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapash, Dhaka North City Mayor Atiqul Islam, Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh IWAMA Kiminori, Chief Representative of JICA Bangladesh office Ichiguchi Tomohide and Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Dr Md Sharfuddin Ahmed.
