Monon Muntaka wins 12th Photoffee

Documentary photographer Monon Muntaka has been selected to receive the 12th Photoffee Photographer of the Year (2022) award for her photographic work titled “Texture & Mixture”. Monon will be given a cash prize money of Tk20,000 along with a crest and a certificate.

Her “Texture & Mixture” concept was born in 2021 when the artist visited Dinajpur for the first time with a group of artists. “I wanted my narration to be different from others. Everybody else was focusing on portraits, I wanted to offer something different, and that’s why I stopped ‘observing’ people and chose to concentrate on textures,” explained Muntaka. Each year, the Photoffee Academy of Fine Art Photography recognizes excellence in fine art photography.

The Photoffee Academy of Fine Art Photography has been giving this award to one promising photographer every year since 2011. Previously, SA Shahriar Ripon, Kamruzzaman, Munem Wasif, Preeto Reza, KM Asad, Joy K Roy Chowdhury, Sumon Yusuf, Farida Alam, Salahuddin Ahmed, Emon Mostak Ahmed and  Reyad Abedin have received this award.

Why Aupee Karim asking for help? Aupee Karim shared a video on Hoichoi where she asked everyone to help find her husband.  The actress appeared anxious as she sat on her chair; despite her fears, she summoned the courage to talk in front of the camera and identified herself as Rezwana.  “I am Rezwana, my husband Anees Ahmed, is a well-known businessman, and an MP candidate from Gonojagoron party. You all know him very well. He has worked hard to contribute towards Bangladesh’s culture and economy,” said the actress.

And then came the shocking part her husband is missing and she has no clue who might kidnap him.  “We can’t find him since last night and his phone is off as well. There has been no trace of him ever since he left his office. We have checked all the places he could have gone to. However, we can’t find him at all. My family and I are extremely worried. Is it a conspiracy against our family? We really don’t know what is going on. If anyone knows where he is, then please inform us. We will really be grateful if you can find him,” added the actress.

Although Hoichoi didn’t name the series, we can certainly say the missing Anees Ahmed is none other than our favourite Mahfuz Ahmed.  Directed by Shafayet Mansoor Rana, the Hoichoi web-series is titled “Odrishshyo” and we will get to see Mahfuz Ahmed opposite Aupee Karim in the web-series.  Earlier on, the director gave a hint about the plot to the Daily Star.  “The plot of the series revolves around a businessman who gets kidnapped one day, after which he faces one of the biggest challenges of his life,” said the director.
