Dignitaries Grace Puja Event with Enthusiasm and Reverence

The spirit of unity and cultural harmony was on full display as esteemed dignitaries graced the grand celebrations of Saraswati Puja at the prestigious Officers’ Club Dhaka. The event, marked by vibrant festivities and deep-rooted traditions, brought together people from all walks of life to celebrate the occasion with devotion and enthusiasm. The presence of distinguished guests added to the grandeur, highlighting the festival’s significance in fostering communal harmony and cultural appreciation.

The Saraswati Puja celebrations commenced early in the morning on Tuesday with a series of religious and cultural programs. The day-long event included the installation of the idol, decoration with flower garlands and hand-drawn chalk art (alpana), lamp lighting, religious discussions, distribution of prasad, and various entertainment programs.

The grand ceremony officially began at 10:00 AM, presided over by the Cabinet Secretary, who is also the Chairman of Officers’ Club Dhaka. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul graced the occasion as the chief guest, adding to the festive spirit of the gathering.

Among the special guests were Primary and Mass Education Adviser Prof. Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder and Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma, both of whom emphasized the importance of religious harmony in their speeches.

Speaking at the event, Adviser Supradip Chakma highlighted the role of religion in ensuring the welfare of humanity. He urged citizens to transcend religious, caste, and communal differences and contribute to the country’s national development.

“Every individual has the right to practice their religion freely. The interim government encourages people of all faiths to work together for the country’s welfare,” said Chakma.

He further stated that unity among all communities is crucial for a prosperous Bangladesh and that embracing the spirit of the historic July-August Mass Uprising could bring transformative changes in the nation’s future.

The event also witnessed the presence of key diplomats, including Pranay Kumar Verma, the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, and Ghanshyam Bhandari, the Ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh, further emphasizing the cultural ties and mutual respect between nations.

Puja Sub-Committee Chairman Bijan Kanti Sarkar delivered the welcome address, acknowledging the contributions of various individuals and organizations in making the event a success. Treasurer MA Khalek of Officers’ Club Dhaka, Co-Chairman of the Puja Celebration Sub-Committee Tapan Chandra Majumder, and Member Secretary Rathindra Nath Dutta were also present on the occasion, playing significant roles in organizing the grand celebration.

In addition to these dignitaries, the event was attended by a wide array of esteemed individuals, including judges, senior government secretaries, additional secretaries, joint secretaries, and heads of various organizations. Both working and retired officials from government and semi-government institutions also joined the celebrations.

A mesmerizing cultural program was organized as part of the celebrations, featuring performances by renowned artists from across the country. Their captivating performances enriched the evening, making it a memorable occasion for attendees.

The festivities drew an estimated 10,000 guests, including club members, their families, and members of the Sanatan Dharma community. Attendees expressed their joy at being part of such a well-organized and spiritually uplifting event, which reinforced the importance of cultural heritage and communal harmony.
