Khulna tree fair ends with earning of Tk 80 lakh

The four-week long divisional tree plantation and tree fair-2023 has ended at the circuit house ground here on Wednesday evening with earning of Taka 80 lakh by selling saplings.  

A total of 71,000 tree saplings were sold during the fair, an official of Divisional Tree Fair and Tree Plantation Management Committee told BSS today.

Deputy Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Begum Habibun Nahar addressed the closing ceremony as chief guest while Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Helal Mahmud Sharif was in the chair.

Additional Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Md. Sajid Hossain, Additional Deputy Inspector General (Adi.DIG) of Police Joydev Chowdhury, Conservator of Forests Mihir Kumar Dey and Superintendent of Police (SP) Khulna Mohammad Saidur Rahman addressed the function as special guests.

Divisional Forest Officer Dr. Abu Nasser Mohsin Hossain delivered the welcome speech while President of Nursery Owners Association S M Badrul Alam Royal delivered vote of thanks at the function.

Deputy Minister Begum Habibun Nahar said, there is no alternative to plant trees to get a healthy life. We need oxygen to survive which we get from trees. So, we need to plant more trees.

Later, the chief guest distributed crests and certificates among the best nursery representatives and also handed over prizes among the winners of art and essay competition marking the tree plantation programme.
