Tamim retires from International cricket

Tamim Iqbal, one of the most decorated batters and considered as the best opener ever produced by the country, retired from International cricket today.

The announcement came all of a sudden as Tamim broke down in tears during a hastily arranged press conference in Chattogram.

The first ODI against Afghanistan on Wednesday in which he scored 13 runs became his last match in the international cricket. Bangladesh lost the match by 17 runs through DLS method.

It is believed the BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon’s outburst prompted the decision as Tamim made a statement ahead of the first ODI that he would assess his fitness by playing the international cricket.

Papon reacted angrily, questioning Tamim’s professionalism as he said how can a player take International cricket so lightly!

After Tamim was dismissed by playing a loose shot yesterday’s match, some BCB directors also questioned about his commitment towards the team.
