
Snigdha Kundu Misty, founder chairperson of Glowomen CIC, a nonprofit community Interest organisation has been made a “Freeman of the City of London” – the highest honour that the City of London can bestow on an individual as a Women activist in the UK and international level category.
She has become the youngest British Bangladeshi women recipient of this honour.
Snigdha is a local community activist and international humanitarian worker who has inspired many women to become more involved in their community through her diverse grassroots efforts in reaching out to those who are less privileged in society.
She regularly shares her skills and talents with those around her in order to make a positive change in local and international communities. This has included providing free food to homeless people, raising over funds for various charities over the past years which include conducting seminars and awareness programme on women physical & mental health, Period issue, distributing sanitary napkins etc in different educational institutes in rural areas of Bangladesh.
Through her organisation,”Glowomen CIC” she is organising 1st ever Women Empowerment Summit In London on 6th July where she will run workshops, celebrating successful women stories on different sector, recognising their achievement and inspiring others.
She wrote a book on parenting named” Matritto Joge Pitritto” which is available at different libraries in London. She is so passionate about women empowerment and their right.
Speaking after her ceremony, Snigdha commented, “This is a huge honour for me and I would like to thank my family, colleagues, mentors for their guidance and faith in me. A huge thank you to the City of London for recognising me.”
