UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh Gwen Lewis lauded the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs for playing a special role in gender equality and women’s empowerment, noting the unprecedented changes in improving the quality of life of women and children. At this time, she expressed her commitment to stand by the government of Bangladesh for women’s safety, health care, education and life quality improvement and to start work anew with an enthusiastic voice.
UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh Gwen Lewis paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Simeen Hussain Rimi MP at the Bangladesh Secretariat yesterday.
They talked about various social issues including social security, child marriage, domestic violence, violence against women, gender budget, maternal health, increasing life skills of teenagers, climate change and women’s life risk.
They focus on networking among 17 UN agencies, roundtables, grassroots initiatives and inter-ministerial linkages to improve the quality of life of women and children.
