Govt working to change underprivileged people’s fate

Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujon has said that the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is relentlessly working to change the fate of the distress and needy people.

“The government is providing economic assistance for the poor people to make them self-reliant. They are being provided with semi-pakka houses and medical allowance for a better future. The government is persistent in transforming their luck,” the minister made the remarks at his speech as the chief guest of an aid-distribution ceremony held at Debiganj upazila parishad hall room on Wednesday.

“Even though a small group is trying to tarnish Awami League’s reputation and erase the name of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from the country, his worthy successor Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is marching ahead with her tireless efforts,” Sujon said.

The minister also urged the countrymen to ‘vote for boat’, for the continuous progress of the country saying, “Development in all the sectors of the country at a massive scale has only been possible under the Awami League government. Choose Awami League again so that the progress remains uninterrupted.”

Later, he distributed 116 bundles of corrugated iron sheets and Taka 3.48 lakh among 58 flood affected peoples.

Also, Taka 30.50 lakh was distributed among 61 patients of the upazila health complex. The medical assistance giving ceremony was arranged by Social affairs department in Debiganj upazila here.

Debiganj Upazila Nirbahi officer (UNO) Md Golam Ferdous chaired the function. Upazila Female vice chairman Ritu Akter conducted the programme.

Upazila chairman Abdul Malek Chistee, upazila Awami League President Gias Uddin Chowdhury, Tapriganj UP chairman Golam Rahman Sarker, Project Implementation officer (PIO) Abdul Momin spoke on the occasion, among others.
