Orientation on preventing early marriage ends

A three-day orientation on ‘Preventing Early Marriage’ concluded in Shibganj on Wednesday. World Vision Bangladesh, a global Christian relief, development and advocacy organization, arranged the orientation programme with the participation of religious leaders of different religions with a view to increasing their capacity in protecting children and stopping early marriage.

Chapainawabganj district programmer Uttam Mondol conducted the sessions as resource person.

A total of 20 religious leaders of different religions participated in the orientation programme.

The concluding function was held at the hall room of Durlavpur union parishad in Shibganj upazila of the district with Imam Md. Abdur Rahim in the chair.

Among others, Shibganj upazila vice chairman Md. Golam Kibria, Durlavpur UP chairman Md. Golam Azam and upazila women affairs officer Umme Sumaya spoke on the occasion.

During the three-day programmes, the orientation was given on different issues like child repression, child protection, early marriage, dowry, women rights, drugs, militancy, dengue and snake bite.
