Khasru calls for planting trees

State Minister for Social Welfare Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru yesterday  called for planting more saplings of fruit-bearing, timber and herbal trees to keep ecological balance, protecting bio-diversity and meeting the demand of nutrition and wood.

“Let us plant more saplings of fruit-bearing, timber and medicinal trees with a view to maintainig balance of the environment and preserve the bio-diversity and meet the demand of nutrition and wood,” he said.

The State Minister made the call while inaugurating a week-long tree fair-2023 at Netrakona Old Collectorate office premises here as the chief guest.

Netrakona District Administration and Forest Department jointly organised thetree fair aiming at popularizing the tree plantation programme of thegovernment among the people.

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Netrakona Shahed Parvez, the inauguralfunction was addressed, among others, by lawmaker Habiba Rahman Khan Shefali, Mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, Additional Police Super Harunur Rashid and Mymensing Divisional Forest Officer ANM Abdul Wadud.

Later, the State Minister visited all 29 colorful stalls of saplings of different trees which were put on display in the fair ground.
