Agri-incentives being distributed in C’nawabganj

Seeds and fertilizer are being distributed free of cost among the small and marginal farmers for increasing the production of high yielding Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) and onion.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) is giving five kgs of seed, 10 kgs of DAP fertilizer and 10 kgs of MOP fertilizer to each of the farmer for cultivating T-Aman and one kg seed, 20-kg DAP and 20-kg MOP for cultivating onion, DAE office sources said.

The sources added that a total of 25 tonnes of high yielding T-Aman seed, 50 tonens of DAP and 50 tonnes of MOP fertilizer and 1.5 tonnes of onion seed, 30 tonnes of DAP and 30 tonnes of MOP fertilizer would be distributed among 5,000 T-Aman farmers and 1,500 onion farmers in the district.

Meanwhile, Shibganj upazila office of DAE distributed the incentives among 200 T-Aman farmers and 325 onion farmers on Tuesday afternoon.

Law maker of Chapainawabganj -1 (Shibganj) constituency Dr. Samil Uddin Ahmed Shimul attended the distribution function as the chief guest.

The function was held at the conference room of the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) with the UNO Md. Abul Hayat in the chair.

Among others, upazila agriculture officer Md. Shariful Islam, agriculture extension officer Abdullah Al Azad and others spoke on the occasion.

Besides, 900 farmers would get the incentives for T-Aman and 325 farmers for onion in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila, 1,800 farmers for T-Aman and 200 farmers for onion in Nachole upazila, 400 farmers for T-Aman and 400 farmers for onion in Gomostapur upazila and 1,700 farmers for T-Aman and 250 farmers for onion in Bholahat upazila, the DAE sources said.
