Zobaida Haque Ajanta, daughter of parliamentarian Nurul Haque, who was martyred in 1973 by an assassin, has submitted the nomination application form of Awami League for the reserved women’s seat. Nurul Haque was elected as Member of Parliament in the then Faridpur-17 (now Shariatpur-2) seat of the first National Parliament of independent Bangladesh held on March 7, 1973. But on May 30 of that year, he was killed by an assailant in the living room of his house.
Nurul Haque’s daughter Zobaida is the former vice-president of Eden College Chhatra League. Currently, she is working as a member of the central sub-committee on finance and planning of Bangladesh Awami League and a member of the advisory council of Naria Upazila Awami League of Shariatpur. She is also a central presidium member of the organization representing the children of freedom fighters ‘Amra Muktijodhar Santan’.
She said, I have gathered strength in my heart after seeing the leader of the nation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Because no one understands the pain of losing a relative better than him. She lost his parents, siblings and other family members in one night and turned grief into strength and devoted himself to the service of the country. She is working to build Bangabandhu’s dream of Sonar Bangla. If I am given the opportunity, I also want to complete my father’s unfinished works and work with our leader Sheikh Hasina to build Bangladesh in the spirit of the liberation war. She requested Awami League’s nomination for the reserved women’s seat in the 12th National Parliament election. At the same time, She expects the support of party leaders and activist.
