Rimi calls for ensuring sound health of children

 

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Simeen Hussain Rimi  called for ensuring sound health of children for a better future of Bangladesh.

“The development of the country is not possible without healthy children,” she said while speaking as the chief guest at a programme organized by Kapasia Upazila Family Planning Department.

Many expecting mothers gathered in the programme with the slogan ‘Nirapod Hok Protiti Prosob, Jotney Thakuk Ma o Nobojatok’, a press release said.

Rimi, also an Awami League Presidium Member, said that today’s children are the future of tomorrow.

“Our children will lead the future. Healthy children will give Bangladesh a beautiful future,” she added.

While giving advice on the ‘Dos and Don’ts’ of mothers during pregnancy, the state minister said mothers should be aware during the pregnancy.

She instructed the mothers to take care of themselves properly by wearing loose fitting clothes and taking balanced meals and drinking safe water regularly.

Highlighting the government’s endeavour for the betterment of the pregnant mothers in the country, she said that the government is providing an allowance of Taka 800 to mothers during their pregnancy period which helps ensure nutritious food.

“The government will continue such assistance,” she said.

She advised the pregnant mothers to go to the upazila health complex for child delivery to avoid unexpected risks.

Officials of United Nations Population Fund UNFPA (Bangladesh) including Head of Gender Unit of UNFPA Shamima Parveen and Kapasia Upazila Nirbahi Officer AKM Lutfar Rahman and Program Manager of Directorate General of Family Planning Abdur Rahim were present in the programme, among others, the release added.
