Production target of egg, milk and meat exceed in Khulna

The production target of egg, milk, and meat, fixed by the Livestock Department, has been exceeded in the last fiscal year in Khulna.

Production target of hen and duck eggs was 4,850 lakh whereas the production was 5,400 lakh which was 11.34 percent higher against the fixed target of egg production.

Besides, the production target of cow, goat and buffalo milk was 2,36,000 metric tonnes whereas the production was 2,57,928 metric tonnes which was 9.29 percent higher than the fixed target of production.

The production target of cow, goat, buffalo and poultry meat was 1,20,000 metric tonnes whereas the production was 1,28,299 metric tonnes which was 6.92 percent higher against the fixed target of meat production.

Besides, the production target of Sankar breed calves through artificial breeding by frozen method was 17,153 whereas the production was 22,423 which was 9.92 percent higher against the fixed target.

A total of 12.8 lakh cattle in 7,007 cattle farms and 66.84 lakh poultries in 3,583 poultry farms have been produced in Khulna including 9 upazilas of the districts.

Khulna District Livestock Officer Dr Md. Shariful Islam told BSS that the production target has been exceeded due to supervision, proper advice, and training to the farmers of those firms.
Moreover, in the last fiscal year, the production had increased for the important roles played by various government and non-governmental organizations.
