Stocks rebound on both bourses

After witnessing a downward trend in the three sessions, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.

After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 34.02 points or 0.55 per cent to settle at 6,254.83. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 13.01 points to finish at 2,121.67 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 7.47 points to close at 1,358.10.

Daily trade turnover plunged Tk 2,995.29 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Tk 3,515.39 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 321 issues traded, 153 advanced, 8 declined and 160 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

FUWANGFOOD dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by BSC, SEAPEARL, SIMTEX and KBPPWBIL.

OAL was the day’s top gainer, rising 9.62 per cent, while NTC was the worst loser, shedding 2.85 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -gaining 42.24 points to settle at 18,478.23 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX rising 25.73 points to close at 11,046.24.

Of the issues traded, 26 declined, 61 advanced and 66 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 23.11 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 6.65 crore.
