Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

Stocks today witnessed upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 26.32 points or 0.42 per cent to settle at 6,367.42. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 5.86 points to finish at 2,202.89 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 7.88 points to close at 1,387.30.

At DSE, out of the day’s 381 securities, prices of 130 securities closed higher against 62 losing issues.

The day’s trade value at the DSE increased to Taka 9337.54 million which was Taka 7,508.56 million at the previous session of the week.

The major gaining issues were ICICL, NFML, AZIZPIPES, KBPPWBIL and PARAMOUNT while the major losing companies were MEGHNAPET, MONNOAGML, RUPALILIFE, APEXFOOT and PROGRESLIF.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 58.95 points up at 18,790.83.

At the CSE, 184 issues were traded. Of those, 59 closed higher and 36 closed lower when 17.91 lakh shares worth Taka 7.96 crore changed hands.
