Somashte organizes a three-day camp on Press Freedom and Media Regulations

Society for Media and Suitable Human-communication Techniques – Somashte organized a three-day camp titled Journalists’ Camp on Press Freedom and Media Regulations in Dhaka on July 29-31, 2022. Thirty journalists from the capital and across the country took part in the camp. The participating journalists drafted and presented the Dhaka Declaration at the closing of the camp. The declaration seeks policy, institutional and individual-level actions to uphold the spirit of the freedom of the press and to create a more enabling environment for independent journalism. Parliamentarians, journalist organizations’ leaders, editors, and academics were present in the camp and interacted with the participants. Barrister Shamim Haider Patwary, MP, Ahasan Adelur Rahman, MP, TV today’s editor-in-chief Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul, president of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Omar Faruk, president of the Dhaka Reporters Unity Nazrul Islam Mithu, editor of the Pratidiner Bangladesh Mustafiz Shafi, executive editor of the Dhaka Tribune Reaz Ahmad, and professor of Dhaka University’s Mass Communication & Journalism Department Dr. Mofizur Rahman were present in different sessions of the camp.
