567 landless families to get houses in Natore

A total of 567 more landless and homeless families in three upazilas of the district will get houses as gifts by the generosity of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They will get the houses in the second phase of Ashrayan-2 project. The keys of the house along with the land deeds and documents will be handed over to the beneficiaries on August 9 (Wednesday).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the programme virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban and will connect at Natore Sadar, Naldanga and Singra upazila parishad auditoriums in the district around 10.00am on August 9, deputy commissioner (DC) Abu Nasser Bhuiyan today disclosed it at a press briefing at the DC’s conference room. Members of beneficiary families, freedom fighters, public representatives, government officials, political leaders, elite and local journalists will present the ceremony, he said. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Noor Ahmed Masum, Revenue Deputy Collector Shamima Akhtar Jahan, among others, were present at the press briefing. So far, 5,052 families have been handed over houses along with land deeds and documents in four phases. Construction work of 567 houses in three upazilas of the district has been completed recently. Of the total houses, 100 in Natore Sadar upazila, 108 in Naldanga and 359 in Singra upazila.

Earlier on July 18, 2022, Bagatipara upazila of the district was declared as homeless upazila and Gurudaspur, Baraigram and Lalpur upazila on 27 February, the DC added.
