A man was killed and his wife injured as a pickup van hit their motorcycle in Birampur municipality area of the district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Malek Mondol, 46, hailed from Fulbari upazila. Malek Mondol along with his wife was heading towards Birampur Haji
Clinic.
Local people said the accident occurred this noon when a speeding pickup van hit their motorcycle from behind in Tatokpur Beldanga area in the municipality, leaving the duo injured on the spot.
The wounded were taken to Birampur Upazila Health complex where the duty doctor declared Malek’s dead.
Later, Malek Mondol’s wife was sent to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital
in Dinajpur.Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Birampur Thana Sumon Kumar Mahanta confirmed the matter. A case was filed with Birampur Thana in this connection.
