New Leadership For BPF EWU

The Bangladesh Pharmacists’ Forum (BPF), East West University Unit, has officially announced its committee for the 2026–2027 session, bringing together a large network of pharmacy professionals, researchers, academics, industry experts, and students to strengthen professional development and academic collaboration in the pharmacy sector.

The newly approved committee, which will remain effective for one year, consists of an extensive Advisor Panel, Coordinators, and a comprehensive Executive Panel representing different academic and organizational wings of the forum.

The committee was jointly approved by Bangladesh Pharmacists’ Forum (BPF) Central President Md. Azibur Rahman and General Secretary Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Tanvir on May 10.

According to the announcement, the newly formed body aims to create stronger engagement between pharmacy students and professionals while promoting research, leadership, social welfare activities, and career development initiatives.

The Advisor Panel includes distinguished professionals from the pharmaceutical industry, academia, healthcare services, research organizations, and international institutions based in Bangladesh, Sweden, Australia, and the United States.

Among the notable advisers are Mehedi Hasan, a Life Science and Biotech Strategy Consultant and PhD researcher in Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology at Stockholm University; Joynul Abedin, a registered pharmacist associated with Apo Farm Sweden; Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun, a community and clinical pharmacist in the United States; and Dr. Md Anisur Rahman, a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, Merced.

The panel also includes senior officials from leading pharmaceutical companies such as Popular Pharmaceuticals Limited, Renata PLC, Beacon Pharma, Ziska Pharma, Orion Pharma Ltd., Drug International Limited, Synovia Pharma PLC, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Opsonin Pharma Ltd., and The ACME Laboratories Ltd.

Industry experts involved in production, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, pharmaceutical marketing, research and development, and product management have been included in the advisory body to provide strategic direction to the organization.

In addition to pharmaceutical professionals, the forum incorporated individuals working in public health, international business, nutrition, mental health, social entrepreneurship, and corporate affairs, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of modern pharmacy education and healthcare services.

The committee also named Anaet Sharif Tusher and Mahir Faisal Sakib as coordinators for the session.

Under the Executive Panel, Tilok Majumder has been appointed President, while Md. Mehedi Hasan will serve as Vice President and Md. Mahin Hasan as General Secretary.

Several assistant general secretaries and joint secretaries were also appointed to support organizational activities and coordination efforts.

The committee features multiple functional departments, including organizing, administration, treasury, social media and publication, cultural activities, relief and social welfare, sports and activities, research and event planning, publications and writings, and media and seminar coordination.

Each department includes a secretary and several assistant secretaries tasked with carrying out academic programs, workshops, seminars, social welfare campaigns, publication activities, student engagement programs, and networking initiatives throughout the year.

Forum leaders said the inclusion of a large number of students and young pharmacy enthusiasts in leadership positions would help create future leaders in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

The newly formed committee is expected to organize academic seminars, career development workshops, research collaborations, industry interaction sessions, public awareness campaigns, blood donation drives, relief activities, and cultural programs aimed at enhancing students’ professional and personal development.

BPF leaders expressed optimism that the East West University Unit would play a significant role in strengthening communication between pharmacy students and industry professionals while encouraging innovation, ethical practices, and research-oriented learning.

They also said the committee would work to expand networking opportunities for students with local and international pharmaceutical professionals and researchers.

The organization believes that active participation of students in professional forums can help prepare future pharmacists to address emerging healthcare challenges, contribute to pharmaceutical innovation, and promote public health awareness in Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Pharmacists’ Forum has been working to create a collaborative platform for pharmacy students and professionals across the country through educational activities, leadership development programs, and social welfare initiatives.

With the announcement of the 2026–2027 committee, the East West University Unit is expected to further strengthen its organizational activities and contribute positively to pharmacy education and professional excellence in Bangladesh.
