The Bangladesh Pharmacists’ Forum (BPF) has announced the newly constituted Advisory Panel and Executive Committee of its Comilla University Unit for the 2026–2027 session, aiming to create a stronger platform for pharmacy students, graduates and professionals at the university.
The new committee has been jointly approved by BPF President Md. Azibur Rahman and General Secretary Mohammad Mehdi Hasan Tanvir.
According to the forum, the Comilla University Unit will work to promote academic excellence, professional development, scientific research, leadership, networking, ethical pharmacy practice and community-oriented activities.
The newly formed unit brings together pharmacy students, graduates and professionals from a wide range of academic, pharmaceutical, healthcare, research and public administration backgrounds. BPF said the diversity of the leadership would help create opportunities for knowledge-sharing and collaboration between students, professionals, researchers and practitioners.
The Advisory Panel includes professionals working in pharmaceutical companies, universities, schools, hospitals, government administration and research institutions. Among them are Md. Ashraful Rahman Bhuiyan, Senior Officer of Analytical Research and Development at Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd.; Shahjalal Reza, Head of the Department of Pharmacy at Hamdard University Bangladesh; Roni Das, recommended Assistant Commissioner (Customs & Excise) under the 47th BCS; and Abdullah Shuvo, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate at the District Administration in Jashore.
The panel also includes professionals from institutions such as Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Limited, Popular Pharmaceuticals PLC, Beximco Pharmaceuticals PLC, SK+F, ACI, Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Opsonin Pharma Limited, Nevian Lifescience PLC, BCSIR and Foujdarhat Cadet College.
Researchers associated with international academic institutions have also been included in the Advisory Panel. Kaniz Fatema Poli, a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Kentucky, USA, and Sifat Hossain, a Graduate Research Assistant at Georgia State University, USA, are among the advisers.
The Advisory Panel further includes Nurul Mostafa, Hospital Pharmacist and In-Charge at Gomati Hospital Pvt. Ltd., and several pharmaceutical professionals involved in production, quality assurance, quality control, validation, product management, warehouse management and material management.
The Executive Committee will be led by Coordinator Naim Bhuiyan and President Tanvir Anjum Sajon. Ali Ahsan Md. Mujahid has been appointed General Secretary, while Akash Ali will serve as Organizing Secretary and Md. Tanvir Hossain as Treasurer.
The committee has appointed multiple vice presidents and joint general secretaries to support the central leadership. Naymur Rahman, Mojammal Hossain, Mahin Uddin Prashan, Most. Sumaiya Jannati Reshma and Radoan Akter Rojoni have been named Joint General Secretaries.
Abdullah Al Noman, Md. Yeasin, Shahabul Islam Bhuiyan, Maskawat Uddin Chowdhury, Hridoy Dev Nath, Asif Ahmed, Md. Bayezid, Md. Akram Hossen, Md. Humayun Kobir Himel, Abid Hasan and Md. Zihad Hossain have been appointed Joint Organizing Secretaries.
The committee has also created dedicated positions covering publication, office administration, culture, public relations and communication, media and visual activities, sports, research, education, foreign affairs, welfare, and scientific and seminar programmes.
Abrar Ahmod Ashrafi will serve as Publication Secretary, while Mahmudul Hasan Shahed has been appointed Office Secretary. Marzan Mitu will oversee cultural activities, and Zakia Sultana will serve as Public Relations and Communication Secretary. Tushar Kumar Datta has been appointed Media and Visual Secretary.
Zahidul Islam Shamol will lead sports activities as Sports Secretary, while Arpan Bhowmick Apu has been appointed Research Secretary. Afroza Akter Akhi will serve as Education Secretary, Tasnia Islam Tarin as Foreign Affairs Secretary, Jarin Akter Beauty as Welfare Secretary and Shahrin Sultana Shipa as Scientific and Seminar Secretary.
A large number of joint secretaries have been appointed under the different departments, reflecting the forum’s emphasis on participatory leadership and specialized organizational activities. The Executive Committee also includes 35 executive members who will support the unit’s various programmes and initiatives.
BPF said the Comilla University Unit would prioritize academic and professional development alongside scientific research and innovation. Seminars, conferences and knowledge-sharing programmes are expected to provide students and young professionals with opportunities to exchange ideas and engage with experienced members of the pharmacy community.
Leadership and career development will also be key areas of focus. The forum aims to strengthen professional networking and collaboration while encouraging students to develop skills that can support their future careers in pharmaceutical industries, healthcare, research, academia and public service.
The unit will additionally promote pharmacy education and public awareness, healthcare and community-oriented initiatives, cultural and extracurricular activities, sports and youth engagement.
International academic and professional collaboration will be another important area, with the leadership expected to facilitate connections between local pharmacy students and professionals and counterparts at international institutions.
BPF also emphasized the importance of ethical and responsible pharmacy practice. The organization expects the new committee to maintain high standards of professional ethics, organizational discipline, transparency, inclusiveness and mutual respect.
The forum expressed confidence that the newly appointed leaders would work collectively with integrity and dedication to strengthen the pharmacy community and contribute to the advancement of the pharmacy profession in Bangladesh.
BPF believes that a strong student and graduate network can play an important role in preparing future pharmacy professionals and creating greater opportunities for research, professional development and collaboration.
