Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

Country’s both the bourses Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)  today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 36.34 points or 0.58 percent to 6,220.80. Two other indices also ended lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 15.96 points to finish at 2,108.66 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 7.32 points to close at 1,350.63.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Taka 3,515.19 million which was Taka 4,137.59 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 301 issues traded, 146 declined, 16 advanced and 139 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

FUWANGFOOD was the day’s top gainer, posting 6.95 percent gain while SEAPEARL was the worst loser, losing 9.96 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -losing 67.36 points to settle at 18,435.98 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX- shedding 40.62 points to close at 11,020.51.
Of the issues traded, 75 declined, 11 advanced and 73 issues remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.

The port city’s bourse traded 41.09 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Taka 11.92 crore.
