Stocks rebound on both bourses

After witnessing a downward trend in the two sessions, stocks on Tuesday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 16.45 points or 0.26 per cent to settle at 6,229.01. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 7.01 points to finish at 2,205.58 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 4.52 points to close at 1,364.04.

Daily trade turnover plunged to Taka 2,719.76 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 3,448.63 million at the previous session of the week.

As out of 310 issues traded, 52 advanced, 27 declined and 231 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

MONNOAGML was the day’s top gainer, rising 7.50 per cent, while CONFIDCEM was the worst loser, shedding 8.81 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -gaining 41.78 points to settle at 18,359.02 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX rising 25.29 points to close at 11,000.21.

Of the issues traded, 21 declined, 33 advanced and 75 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 64.56 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Taka 3.54 crore.
