
The Bangladesh Pharmacists Forum (BPF), one of the country’s leading professional organizations representing pharmacy professionals and students, has officially approved the full executive committee and advisory panel of the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) Unit for the 2026-2027 session.
The approval was announced through an official notification issued on Thursday and signed by Bangladesh Pharmacists Forum Central President Md. Azibur Rahman and General Secretary Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Tanvir.
According to the notification, the newly approved committee has been formed with the goal of promoting academic excellence among pharmacy students, strengthening professional competencies, encouraging research and innovation, and creating stronger links between students and Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical, healthcare, and corporate sectors.
As part of the new leadership structure, Md. Shakil Ahmed has been appointed President of the WUB Unit, while Ratul Hasan has been selected as General Secretary. The newly elected leadership is expected to lead a range of academic, professional, and student-focused initiatives throughout the session, aimed at preparing pharmacy students for future challenges in the healthcare industry.
Leaders of the Bangladesh Pharmacists Forum expressed confidence that the new committee would contribute significantly to enhancing pharmacy education, promoting research culture, and developing future healthcare leaders. They also emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for students to interact with industry professionals and gain practical insights into the rapidly evolving pharmaceutical sector.
The committee is expected to organize seminars, workshops, research activities, leadership development programs, industry-academia interactions, and community service initiatives. These activities are designed to help students develop both technical and leadership skills while fostering a culture of professional excellence.
To ensure effective guidance and mentorship, BPF has also constituted an extensive advisory panel consisting of experienced professionals from leading pharmaceutical companies, healthcare institutions, financial organizations, and corporate sectors. The advisory body is expected to provide strategic direction and professional support to the student leaders throughout the session.
The advisory panel includes Zahir Raihan Pappu of One Pharma Limited, Nadia Sultana of Square Pharmaceuticals PLC, Md. Tanvir Ahmed Chowdhury of Sun Pharmaceuticals, Swapan Bepari and Tariqul Islam of Beacon Pharmaceuticals, Md. Samiul Basid of Renata Pharma, Md. Abbas Uddin of Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Md. Abu Hasan Limon of Janata Bank PLC, Md. Tanvir Ahmed of Everest Pharmaceuticals, Md. Morshed Alam of Jiska Pharmaceuticals, Simanto Roy of Halion Bangladesh Private Limited, Ujjwal Chandra Banik of Delta PLC, Md. Yasin Hossain of SKF PLC, Partha Saha of Nestle, Md. Muktar Hossain Faisal of Unimed Unihealth, and Md. Noor A Alamin Siddique of Jason Pharmaceuticals, among several other distinguished professionals and former student leaders.
The executive committee comprises a diverse group of student representatives entrusted with implementing the organization’s programs and strengthening student engagement on campus.
In addition to President Md. Shakil Ahmed and General Secretary Ratul Hasan, the committee includes Tasfia Rahman Himu, Ujjwal Hossain Abir, Umme Sifat Urmi, Md. Salman, Md. Habibul Hossain Nirob, Kashfia Tasnim Choya, Israt Jahan Amy, and Md. Rakibul Islam Rana as Vice-Presidents.
The Co-General Secretaries are Tawsin Jannat Katha, Md. Naeem Islam, Shobhi Kumar Das, Adel Rahman Hamza, Md. Arif Abdullah (Rafi), and Priyanti Majumder Pinky.
Sabbir Hossain has been appointed Organizing Secretary, while Mir Afia Nowshin and Nazmun Nahar Moni will serve as Co-Organizing Secretaries. Saima Karim Samanta has been entrusted with the responsibility of Treasurer, while Labib Hossain Sikder has been appointed Co-Treasurer.
Other important positions include Imran Hossain Bijoy as Office Secretary, Dolan Hawlader as Cultural Secretary, Tahsan Habib Kaby as Propaganda and Public Relations Secretary, Parul Akhter as Debate Affairs Secretary, Abu Sayeed Rifat as Media and Visual Secretary, Mir Afia Nowshin as Research Affairs Secretary, Md. Samiul Hasan Majumder as Sports Secretary, Habiba Rahman Papri as Social Welfare Editor, and Maisha Akhter Jui as Science and Seminar Affairs Editor.
The full committee also includes a large number of deputy editors, assistant editors, and executive members representing different academic years and backgrounds. The inclusion of a broad representation of students reflects the forum’s commitment to inclusiveness, teamwork, leadership development, and active student participation in organizational activities.
BPF leaders noted that the WUB Unit has consistently played an important role in promoting professional awareness, academic collaboration, and student development within the pharmacy community. They expressed optimism that the newly approved committee would continue this tradition by implementing impactful programs and creating meaningful opportunities for students.
Congratulating the newly elected leaders and members, the central leadership of Bangladesh Pharmacists Forum said the committee would work to strengthen quality pharmacy education, encourage scientific research, enhance professional skills, and develop future leaders capable of contributing to Bangladesh’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.
They further expressed hope that under the guidance of the advisory panel and the dynamic leadership of the executive committee, the WUB Unit would continue to make significant contributions to student development, professional networking, research engagement, and the advancement of pharmaceutical education in the country.
The newly approved committee will remain in office for the 2026-2027 session and is expected to undertake a wide range of initiatives aimed at empowering pharmacy students and preparing them for future professional responsibilities in Bangladesh and beyond.
