
The Bangladesh Pharmacists’ Forum (BPF) has officially approved a new Executive Committee and Advisory Panel for its Bangladesh University (BU) Unit, entrusting the newly formed leadership with the responsibility of guiding the organization over the next one-year term.
The announcement was made through an official declaration signed by BPF Central President Md. Azibur Rahman and Central General Secretary Mohammad Mehdi Hasan Tanvir. The approval marks a significant step in strengthening student leadership and professional engagement within the pharmacy community.
According to the central leadership, the newly constituted committee brings together a diverse group of pharmacy students, academics, researchers, industry professionals and healthcare experts committed to advancing pharmacy education, scientific research and professional development.
The 33-member Advisory Panel comprises distinguished professionals serving in leading pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, research organizations and healthcare sectors in Bangladesh and abroad. Members of the panel represent a broad spectrum of expertise, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, marketing, product management, research and higher education.
Among the advisers are professionals from renowned organizations such as Delta Pharma Limited, The Orient Laboratories Limited, Renata PLC, Square Pharmaceuticals Limited, Popular Pharmaceuticals PLC, Drug International Limited, Beximco Pharmaceuticals PLC, The ACME Laboratories Ltd., Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Beacon Biotech Division and several international institutions and organizations in France, Türkiye and the United States.
The central leadership noted that the advisory body will play a vital role in mentoring students, sharing professional experiences and helping bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice.
Leading the Executive Committee as President is Saiful Islam Emon, while Jahidul Islam Himu has been appointed Senior Vice President. Ahsan Ullah will serve as General Secretary, supported by Sawda Binta Kamrul Oishi as Senior Joint Secretary.
The committee also includes vice presidents, joint secretaries, organizing secretaries, treasurers and office bearers responsible for publicity, media, public relations, research, education, foreign affairs, welfare, sports, culture and scientific activities. A large group of executive members has also been included to ensure wider participation and effective implementation of organizational initiatives.
According to the Forum, the newly appointed leaders have been selected based on their commitment to academic excellence, organizational involvement and interest in advancing the pharmacy profession.
The Bangladesh University Unit is expected to organize a range of academic, scientific and social initiatives throughout its tenure. These include seminars, workshops, research activities, public health awareness campaigns, leadership development programs and professional networking opportunities for pharmacy students.
BPF leaders expressed optimism that the new committee would contribute significantly to creating a vibrant academic environment and fostering innovation among future pharmacists. They emphasized the importance of developing competent and ethical pharmacy professionals capable of meeting the growing healthcare needs of Bangladesh and the global community.
The Forum further stated that pharmacy students play a crucial role in strengthening healthcare systems through education, research and community engagement. Therefore, providing opportunities for leadership development and professional exposure remains one of the organization’s key priorities.
