New Executive Body Takes Charge

The Bangladesh Pharmacists’ Forum (BPF) has officially approved and announced the new Executive Committee and Advisory Panel of its Gono Bishwabidyalay (GBU) Branch for the 2026-27 term, aiming to strengthen professional development, research activities and student engagement in the pharmacy sector.

The approval was granted by the Central Parliament of the Bangladesh Pharmacists’ Forum through a formal notification jointly signed by BPF Central President Md. Ajibur Rahman and General Secretary Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Tanvir.

The newly formed committee consists of experienced professionals from the pharmaceutical industry, academia, healthcare sector and regulatory bodies, alongside student representatives from the Department of Pharmacy at Gono Bishwabidyalay.

A distinguished Advisory Panel has been constituted to provide strategic guidance and mentorship to the branch. The panel includes senior professionals such as MD. Masum Chowdhury, General Manager (Sales & Marketing) of Asiatic Laboratories Ltd.; Md. Shahriar Arifin, Managing Director of Skin Solutions Ltd. BD (SAM Skin Health); Md. Shariful Mollah, Assistant Director of the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA), Barishal; and Sikandar Mahmud (Sweet), Inspector of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).

The advisory body also features several academics from Gono Bishwabidyalay, including Assistant Professors Abdur Rauf Bidyut, Tania Ahmed Tonni and Ananta Kumar Das. Other members represent leading pharmaceutical companies and healthcare organizations, including Beximco Pharmaceuticals, ACME Laboratories, Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Beacon Pharmaceuticals, Libra Infusion, RRP Pharma, Unido Pharmaceutical and Gonoshasthaya Kendra.

According to the announcement, Imran Hossain has been elected President of the GBU Branch Executive Committee, while Ashikul Islam Tuhin will serve as General Secretary for the one-year tenure.

Sabbir Hossain has been appointed Senior Vice President. Rajibul Hossain, Shamim Hossain and Maisha Tasnim will perform responsibilities as Vice Presidents.

The committee has also appointed a team of Assistant General Secretaries comprising Shawkat Hossain, Al Amin, B.M. Mahmudul Hasan, Rizwan Chowdhury Sabir, Md. Monim Ahmed and H.M. Kamruzzaman. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun has been entrusted with the role of Organizing Secretary.

To strengthen organizational activities, Md. Al-Amin, Noor Mohammad, Sowad Ahmed and Yasin Arafat Selim have been selected as Assistant Organizing Secretaries.

The executive body further includes a broad range of functional portfolios aimed at ensuring effective administration and student participation. Mainul Yamin has been elected Treasurer, while Kazi Md. Abdul Baki Soumik will serve as Assistant Treasurer. Mushfiqur Rahman has been appointed Publication Secretary and Rezuan Rahman Rudra as Assistant Publication Secretary.

Mahmudul Hasan has been given responsibility as Office Secretary, assisted by Tuhin Ahmed. The sports affairs wing will be led by Md. Yasin Arafat as Sports Secretary and Tawhidul Islam Mahi as Assistant Sports Secretary.

For cultural activities, Chandni Akter Toma has been selected as Cultural Affairs Secretary, while Ifat Jahan Oboni and Sadia Islam Muna will serve as Assistant Cultural Affairs Secretaries.

Farzana Akter has been appointed Research Secretary and Salauddin Mahmud as Assistant Research Secretary, highlighting the organization’s commitment to promoting academic and scientific research among pharmacy students.

The Student Welfare wing will be led by Umme Hani as Student Welfare Secretary, with Amena Akter Mim serving as Assistant Student Welfare Secretary. Shamsul Alam has been named Publication and Documentation Secretary.

In addition, Tamal Kumar Mridha has been assigned the role of Media and Seminar Secretary, while Md. Nafiz Hossain will assist him in organizing seminars, professional workshops and awareness programmes.

The Executive Committee also includes a number of executive members, namely Md. Tanvir Ahmed, Maruf Hasan, Saimon Islam Noyon, Fardin Arian Shihab, Md. Hasanur Arif Alvi, Md. Hasibul Alam, Md. Redwanul Islam Riyad, Ashikur Rahman Akash, F.M. Siam, Al Mahim, Md. Rifat Ullah, Rifat, Iftekharul and Md. Parvez Mahfuz.

The newly elected leaders expressed gratitude to the central leadership of the Bangladesh Pharmacists’ Forum for their confidence and support. They pledged to work collectively for the advancement of pharmacy education and professional excellence.

They also emphasized plans to expand research initiatives, organize scientific seminars and training programmes, strengthen public health awareness campaigns and create greater opportunities for skill development among students and young pharmacy professionals.

Congratulating the newly elected committee, the central leadership of the Bangladesh Pharmacists’ Forum expressed hope that the Gono Bishwabidyalay Branch would play a significant role in nurturing future pharmacy leaders and contributing to the development of the country’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

The central committee further wished the newly formed branch leadership success in carrying out its responsibilities and advancing the objectives of the organization during its tenure.
