Ten men Sheikh Russel reach semifinal

The semifinals line up of Bashundhara Group Federation Cup Football has been settled as tem men Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra confirmed their spot of semifinal beating last year’s runners-up Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by a solitary goal in the fourth quarterfinal match today (Tuesday).

Sheikh Russel will now play the second semifinal match against defending champions Abahani Limited Dhaka scheduled to be held May 16 at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla, following the first semifinal match between Bashundhara Kings and Mohammedan Sporting Club to be held on May 9 at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj.

Held at Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj, Nigerian forward Kenneth Ikechukwu scored the all-impotant goal for Sheikh Russel early in the 1th minute of the match and they mainta9ned the lead till the final whistle.

Abid Ahmed of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra was shown red card by the referee following his double yellow cards.

Earlier, Bashundhara Kings beat Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra by 3-1 goals in the first quarterfinal, Abahani Limited edged past Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 1-0 goal in the second quarterfinal and Mohammedan Sporting Club defeated Chittagong Abahani Limited by 4-1 goals in the third quarterfinal.

The final of the Federation Cup will be held on May 30 at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
