Former MP MA Awal of Lakshmipur has been arrested by the Kalabagan police from the capital.He was arrested in connection with a fraud case.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (DC) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Public Relations and Media Branch, confirmed the matter on Wednesday.
MA Awal is the chairman of the Islamic Democratic Party and a former general secretary of the Tariqat Federation.While serving as the general secretary of the Tariqat Federation, he was nominated as a parliamentary candidate for the Awami League’s boat symbol in the 10th National Parliament elections held on January 5, 2014, as part of the 14-party alliance.
