
A Chapainawabganj court on Monday afternoon sentenced one person to life-term imprisonment and also fined him of Tk. 50,000 two years more to suffer in jail in default.
The convicted person was Alamin Islam alias Fakir, 20, son of Anarul Hoque of Joitabattala village under Godagari upazila in Rajshahi district.
Additional District and Session Judge Rabiul Islam pronounced the verdict in presence of the convict.
According to the prosecution story, acting on a tip of, a team of Operation and Intelligence Cell, Bogura of 4, Armed Police Battalion (APBn) conducted a raid at Dariapur under Chapainawabganj municipality on the Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi highway and arrested Alamin with 100 grams of heroin on September 18, 2020.
Next day Sub-inspector Ataur Rahman of APBn filed a case against him with Chapainawabganj Sadar Model thana.
Investigating officer (IO) of the case Sub-inspector Sohel Rana of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model thana submitted charge sheet against Alamin to the court on October 1, 2020. After hearing the witnesses the court handed down the punishment.
